Dehradun, 14 Apr: Students of Graphic Era were briefed on India’s missile technology on Saturday by ‘Missile Woman’ Dr Tessy Thomas.
Dr Tessy Thomas addressed students at Graphic Era’s Silver Jubilee Convention Centre. The programme was organised on ‘Advances in Aerospace Technology’. While explaining about the various types of missiles, Dr Tessy Thomas said that scientists have significantly developed this technology through missile programmes. These missiles with indigenous capabilities include Ballistic, Cruise and Anti-Tank missiles. She said that Ballistic missiles are used to carry weapons to predetermined targets, while Cruise missiles are used for local and naval targets. Anti-Tank missiles are used for destroying armoured military vehicles.
Dr Tessy Thomas said that today’s youth are learning new technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Quantum Computing, beyond books. In future they will lead the country to greater heights of success.
The programme was organised by the Department of Aerospace Engineering. Pro Chancellor Graphic Era Deemed University Prof Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor Graphic Era Deemed University Dr Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor Graphic Era Hill University Dr Sanjay Jasola, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Graphic Era Hill University, Prof R Gauri and HOD Dr Sudhir Joshi were also present on the occasion.
