High Commissioner to Brunei visits Natraj Bookshop

Dehradun, 9 Jun: Alok Amitabh Dimri, India’s High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam visited Natraj Bookshop on Rajpur Road, here, today. A book lover and a bibliophile, Dimri was thrilled to find some books he had been looking for. He was delighted to spot a copy of Memoir of Dehra Dun by GRC Williams, an enduring classic first published in 1873, which has just been reprinted. The book is the first ever historical account of the Valley. Alok Dimri said he loves Uttarakhand and visits the state whenever he can and added he had a special affection for Doon and its residents.

Inscribing the visitors’ book, he wrote ‘delighted to be at India’s foremost mountain and military publishing house and a joy to connect with Upendra Arora, the owner of the bookshop’.

Ambassador Dimri served as Director (South) at the Headquarters and was Head of Multilateral Economic Relations (MER) Division of the Ministry (2015-18), responsible for G20, BRICS, IBSA, OECD, WTO, and UNCTAD matters, encompassing multilateral-trade, economic and commercial diplomacy and was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Kyrgyz Republic, from January, 2019, to February, 2022.

He has been High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam since March 2022.
