‘Ignite 2019’ – Co-Curricular Fest begins at UPES today

DEHRADUN, 14 Feb: UPES is all set to welcome the students of colleges and universities from within and outside the state of Uttarakhand at the one-of-its-kind Techno-Legal-Management-Design Fest ‘IGNITE – 2019’ being held simultaneously at its Kandoli and Bidholi campuses from tomorrow. The 8th Edition of this 2-day extravaganza is being held on 15-16 February this year. Since its inception in the year 2011, this annual fest is organised collectively by the students from all constituent colleges of UPES along with faculty support. With the theme of ‘Women Empowerment: Strength in Solidarity’, the fest will focus on celebrating womanhood; enjoying the essence of who they are and what makes them a true winner. Poonam Gupta, Senior Principal Scientist – Indian Institute of Petroleum, will be the ‘Chief Guest’ and will inaugurate the fest from the Bidholi Campus in the presence the Google Women Techmakers Lead, Kolkata; Author; Intel Software Innovator & Data Scientist Manisha Biswas as the ‘Guest of Honour’.
The events conducted by various UPES Student Clubs shall cover all sectors of the University besides providing a plethora of opportunities to the participants from all genres. With over 100 technical-legal-managerial-design events viz. ‘Robo Rave’; ‘Robo War’; ‘CSGO’; ‘RC AVIO 2.0’; ‘F1 Racing’; ‘Survival of the Fittest’; ‘Super Women 3.0’; ‘FIFA 18’; ‘Play and Slay’; ‘Hover Mania’; ‘Mr & Ms Ignite – 2019’; ‘Mock CID 2.0’; ‘2 Musketeers’; ‘Prenzento’; ‘Inverse Coding- for those students who wish to play out their intense coding skills’; ‘Snap Crack’; ‘Chitrakatha’; ‘Para Puri’ Discussion Panel on Budget; Speak India Visionary Lawyers; You Amend Your Constitution Licit, Dumb Charades; Boardroom; Edify; Turncoat; Smartphone Film Festival; Congress; Get Funky from Junky, etc. ‘IGNITE-2019’promises to be bigger and better than its preceding years.
An exclusive Lecture on Women Empowerment by the Chief Guest and the showcasing of talent and skills at the fest is expected to encourage the students into taking added interest in creativity and innovation. The Cultural Evening at the end of the first day of the fest attracting the brightest talent amongst the participants will be one of the spectacular shows of cultural exuberance.
