From Campus to Career:

Garhwal Post Bureau

Dehradun, 25 Jul: Guru Nanak College, Dehradun, organised a well-attended and engaging lecture-cum-Q&A session for fresh BBA and BCA students on the theme, “Campus to Career: Shaping Future-Ready Professionals”. The session was received with enthusiasm by the students and appreciated for its practical relevance, motivational content and engaging format.

The lecture was delivered by Alok Joshi, a committed mentor and youth guide from Uttarakhand, known for his active role in mentoring young minds and helping them prepare for the demands of today’s competitive business environment. Over the years, he has been working to help students and aspirants upgrade their skills, strengthen their personality and build the confidence needed to succeed in both academic and professional life.

Addressing the freshers, he said that the beginning of a new academic session is the right time to inspire and motivate them to look beyond the degree and start working towards becoming better versions of themselves. He observed that this is often the stage when young students, enjoying a new sense of freedom, may begin to lose track of their goals. In such a phase, timely guidance and meaningful exposure can play an important role in keeping them focused and future-ready.

He further emphasised that while classroom teaching provides academic knowledge, listening to real-life stories of professionals can supplement that learning in a powerful way. Such stories help students understand how professionals overcome setbacks, adapt to challenges and turn obstacles into opportunities. This, he noted, bridges the gap between theory and reality and prepares students for life beyond the classroom.

The speaker has been actively contributing to youth development across Uttarakhand. He has been involved in assessing the employment potential of final-year students of Women’s Polytechnic, Dehradun, helping them understand their readiness for the job market. He also conducts mock interviews for IAS and PCS candidates, particularly those coming from backward areas of the region, enabling them to build confidence and improve their communication skills. In addition, he delivers master classes in universities and colleges across the region, where his sessions have been appreciated for their practical orientation, motivational tone and focus on personality development and employability. His efforts have consistently aimed at bridging the gap between education and employment by preparing students not only for examinations but also for the challenges of professional life.

The interactive Q&A session at Guru Nanak College added further value to the programme, with students asking thoughtful questions on career planning, skill development, personal growth, and the mindset required to succeed in a competitive world. The lively exchange made the session meaningful, engaging, and highly relevant for the students.

The programme concluded with an inspiring message that success in today’s world belongs to those who remain focused, keep learning and continue improving themselves.

Such interactive sessions may benefit more institutions seeking to prepare students for the evolving demands of education, employment and personal growth.
