Garhwal Post Bureau
Dehradun, 4 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today directed all the district magistrates in the state to remain active on the ground with their respective teams in view of the continuous rainfall across Uttarakhand. In the meeting held in this respect, the DMs were mostly present in virtual mode. Emphasising on swift restoration efforts, he directed that the roads blocked due to heavy rain be cleared at the earliest and that immediate arrangements be prioritised for repairing damaged water and electricity lines.
Dhami also stated that, in case of rural road blockages, suitable alternate routes must be provided promptly to facilitate public movement. He also stressed that prior preparations must be undertaken to address potential waterlogging issues. He also asked the officials to assess the damage caused to agricultural crops due to incessant rains without delay to provide necessary relief.
In a bid to uphold transparency and accountability in public welfare schemes, the CM instructed all the DMs to take strict legal action against the individuals who might have procured ration cards, Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, Ayushman cards and other official documents unlawfully, as well as those involved in facilitating such acts. Simultaneously, he called for regular anti-encroachment drives across all districts. Under the ambit of ‘Operation Kalnemi,’ he asserted the need for sustained action against those misleading citizens under the guise of religious faith.
Stressing on the importance of public health infrastructure, Dhami also directed the DMs to conduct routine inspections of government hospitals in their respective districts. These inspections must ensure the availability of essential medicines, presence of qualified doctors, functional medical equipment and proper hygiene. He stated that he would undertake surprise visits to various hospitals to personally monitor the arrangements and services being provided.
The CM further instructed the officials to expedite infrastructure development works post-monsoon. He underlined the need to maintain high standards of quality and timeliness in the construction of roads, bridges, drainage systems and other civic projects. He also urged that the flagship schemes of both the state and central governments should be reviewed regularly to ensure effective implementation and maximum public benefit.
Stressing on promoting self-reliance, Dhami asserted that indigenous products be given precedence in all government offices across the state. Citizens must be encouraged to adopt locally produced goods through comprehensive awareness campaigns. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the principles of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Vocal for Local,’ advocating consistent efforts in these directions.
Commending the successful completion of the three-tier panchayat elections in Uttarakhand, Dhami also expressed his gratitude to the State Election Commission and all officers, staff members and security personnel who were part of the electoral process. He noted that the elections were conducted in a peaceful and democratic manner owing to the dedication and coordinated efforts of all involved.
Those present virtually during the meeting included Principal Secretaries RK Sudhanshu and R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretaries Shailesh Bagoli and Vinay Shankar Pandey, Additional Director General of Police (ADG) AP Anshuman, Special Secretary Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Additional Secretary Banshidhar Tiwari, Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Commissioner, Kumaon, Deepak Rawat and all district magistrates.
