Dehradun, 29 May: BJP state spokesperson and former cabinet minister Khajan Das has accused the Congress of turning the Jai Hind Yatra into a political platform. Speaking to media persons here, today, Das criticised Congress leaders for making political statements during a programme meant to celebrate patriotism, calling it shameful.

Das stated that the people understand the difference between patriotism and politics and will teach Congress a lesson for its double standards at the right time.

Responding to media queries, Das asserted that the nation is united in celebrating the bravery of the Indian Army, especially in response to Pakistan. He highlighted BJP’s participation in the Tiranga Shaurya Samman Yatra, organised by the social groups, and emphasised that the event is apolitical, with party workers joining purely to support the cause.

Indirectly targeting Congress, Das alleged that some leaders are unable to accept the success of the country and the armed forces. He claimed that statements from Congress leaders, including those by Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Siddaramaiah, and former CM Channi, have undermined the army’s valour and benefited India’s adversaries.

Das also strongly criticised Congress for its stance on Operation Sindoor, stating that the party cannot logically oppose the army and government’s role in the operation. He accused Congress leaders of using the yatra’s name for political mileage while continuing to make baseless allegations.

He further remarked that while the Indian Army is being praised globally for its strength and efficiency, Congress remains engaged in political rhetoric instead of supporting national interests. He pointed out that Indian MPs are achieving diplomatic success abroad, yet Congress continues to politicise patriotic events.

Das sarcastically stated that Congress has reached an ideological and theoretical void after repeated electoral defeats. He asserted that the people of Uttarakhand recognise this duplicity and will respond appropriately in the upcoming elections.
