Dehradun, 3 May: A programme for the students of National Institute of Visually Handicapped, Rajpur, along with the girl students of Him Jyoti School was organised by Dr S Farooq with an educational tour to the Himalaya Drug Company. They learned about herbs and how to recognise the aromatic plants and culinary herbs normally used in kitchen spices by touch and smell.
A quiz programme was also held for the students of Him Jyoti. They visited the herbal garden, Museum and had a ride in various antique cars and enjoyed the trip.
Dr S Farooq addressed them and appreciated their discipline and curiosity. The students were accompanied by their teachers from the schools. They had lunch together. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Principal of Him Jyoti School, Jaspreet Pannu.
Two Him Jyoti girls of XI class who have been selected by foreign universities, namely Yamen Doma Tamang for UWC, Italy, and Tanishka Chandel for UWC, Armenia, were also in the group. Their selection was celebrated by cutting of cake and distribution of sweets.
