Mumbai, 16 Jul: Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari planted a Tulsi sapling on the occasion of Harela Parv at the Raj Bhavan, here, today. Representatives of various Uttarakhandi organisations based in Mumbai were present on the occasion.
The Governor said that India is the only country where trees such as Peepal, Wad, Amla and even animals and birds are worshipped. Stating that the festival of Harela gives the message of interdependence of man and nature, he called for planting and conserving more trees to protect the environment.
Mahesh Sharma, President of Konkan Prant of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Chamu Singh Rana of Himalaya Parvatiya Sangh, KS Panwar, Industrialist, Chandrashekhar Fuloria, President, Tulsi Foundation, Dayaram Shati, Vice President, Garhwal Bhratru Sangh, Mahendra Singh Gosain, Amarjeet Mishra and others were present among those present on the occasion.
