Last rites of CM Yogi’s father performed at Phoolchatti

DEHRADUN, 21 Apr: The last rites of Anand Singh Bisht (89), the father of UP Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, were performed at Phoolchatti in Rishikesh on the banks of the Ganga, today. While the UP Chief Minister could not be present on the occasion, his elder brother Manvendra Singh Bisht lit the funeral pyre. Among those present on the occasion were Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Baba Ramdev among a few others.
The mortal remains of the deceased were brought to the Ganga Ghat in Phoolchatti at around 9:10 a.m. Floral tribute was paid by Chief Minister Rawat, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Premchand Agarwal, MP Tirath Singh Rawat, Ministers Madan Kaushik, Dhan Singh Rawat, MLA Mahendra Bhatt, BJP’s Ajay Kumar, UP Additional Residential Commissioner Soumya Srivastava, Raj Bhushan Singh Rawat, OSD to the UP CM, Swami Ramdev, Swami Chidanand Saraswati and others.
Bisht’s body was brought by ambulance to his native village Panchur late on Monday evening from Delhi AIIMS. He had passed away at AIIMS, Delhi, at 10:44 a.m., on Monday. He had retired as a Range Officer from the Forest Department and settled down at Panchur. He had been ill for around three months. He had four sons and three daughters.
Chief Minister TS Rawat offered his condolences to the bereaved family and recalled Bisht’s contribution as a social activist, who had among other things initiated the opening of a college in his area.
