Major bureaucratic reshuffle in U’khand

By Our Staff Reporter
Dehradun, 4 Feb: The Trivendra Singh Rawat Government today carried out a major bureaucratic reshuffle though many senior bureaucrats continue to be underutilised even as some of the favourite ones remain overburdened. The reshuffle carried out hardly looks balanced. Former Chief Secretary S Ramaswamy who currently holds the charge of Chairman of the Revenue Board, continues to be grossly underutilised though he has been given additional charge as Chairman of the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation.
Additional Chief Secretary Ranbir Singh has been relieved of the charge of Forests & Environment, apparently after pressure in this regard from Minister Harak Singh Rawat, who is stated to be unhappy with him over certain recent issues!
Ranbir Singh continues to hold charge of other departments including Higher Education!
Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash continues to hold charge of some important departments like PWD and Technical Education, but has been relieved of the charge of Government Estates and Skill Development.
Principal Secretary Manisha Panwar has been relieved of the charge as Director General cum Commissioner, Industry, but will continue to hold other portfolios. Principal Secretary Anand Vardhan has been relieved of the charge of Consumer Affairs, Irrigation and Minor Irrigation but has been given additional charge of the crucial department of Forests & Environment. It remains to be seen if this decision appeases Harak Singh Rawat or not!
Secretary, Education, Dr Bhupinder Kaur Aulakh, whom Minister of School and Secondary Education Arvind Pandey was reportedly not comfortable working with, has been finally relieved of this charge and has been given the charge of Irrigation and Minor Irrigation Departments!
Secretary, Revenue, Sushil Kumar has been given additional charge of the Department of Consumer Affairs & Civil Supplies and also will be Commissioner, Food & Civil Supplies.
Secretary, Animal Husbandry, R Meenakshi Sundaram has been given additional charge of School Education, where he replaces Dr Bhupinder Kaur Aulakh. Secretary, Urban Development, and Transport Commissioner Shailesh Bagoli has been relieved as Commissioner, Garhwal. He will be replaced by BVR Purshottam, who had been kept in waiting for long even after returning from a Central posting!
Secretary Nitesh Jha, who holds charge of many “important” departments like Secretary, CM, Home, Housing and Health has been relieved of less important ones like Personnel and Vigilance! Harbans Singh Chugh has been relieved of Secretariat Administration. Arvind Singh Hyanki gets additional charge of Government Estates in place of Om Prakash. Brijesh Sant has been relieved as MD, Uttarakhand Transport Corporation!
