Mussoorie, 13 Jul: Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi today participated in a multi-purpose camp organised at the Radha Krishna Temple premises in Mussoorie under the Seva Pakhwada initiative.
On the occasion, he visited stalls set up by various government departments and distributed benefits and assistance to beneficiaries of different public welfare schemes. He said that the State Government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of its welfare programmes reach the last person in society, and that the Seva Pakhwada initiative is an important step towards fulfilling this commitment.
A large number of local residents attended the camp to present their grievances. The Cabinet Minister heard their concerns and ensured that most of the complaints were resolved on the spot. For the remaining cases, he directed the officials concerned to take prompt action and ensure their early resolution.
During the camp, Minister Joshi instructed Forest Department officials to prioritise the lopping and removal of dried trees or those posing a threat to public safety in the area, so as to prevent any untoward incidents. He also directed officials of the Social Welfare Department to organise a two-day camp in Mussoorie to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of government welfare schemes.
The Minister further instructed officials of all departments that no files related to public interest should remain pending. He emphasised that cases should be resolved within the stipulated time and that citizens should not be forced to make repeated visits to government offices.
Addressing the gathering, Ganesh Joshi said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the commitment of the double-engine government, Uttarakhand has, over the past five years, given the highest priority to development and the preservation of its cultural identity through several landmark decisions. He stated that the state has implemented the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), enacted a strong anti-cheating law, an anti-conversion law, a strengthened land law, and, in a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country, dissolved the Madrasa Board and established the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority.
The Minister added that the government has ensured a transparent recruitment system for the youth and provided 30 percent horizontal reservation for women in government jobs. He said the state has witnessed significant progress in investment, employment generation, connectivity, and the development of religious and tourism infrastructure, including the Char Dham. He also noted that, with complete transparency, more than 34,000 young people have been provided opportunities in government services.
The programme was attended by Municipal Chairperson Meera Saklani, Mandal President Rajat Agarwal, Mohan Petwal, Satish Dhoundiyal, Kushal Rana, councillors, officials from various government departments, and a large number of local residents.
