Dehradun, 13 Jul: Municipal Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey chaired a detailed review meeting here today in respect of the sanitation arrangements, waterlogging, drain cleaning, dengue prevention campaign, grievance redressal, anti‑larvicidal sprays and disaster preparedness in view of the monsoon. During the meeting, Pandey directed that the sanitation arrangements in every ward be given top priority during the monsoon and that no situation of garbage accumulation, waterlogging or filth should arise. He instructed that all the major and internal drains be cleaned regularly and monitored continuously to ensure smooth drainage of rainwater and to prevent inconvenience to citizens. He emphasised that the complaints received from the residents must be resolved promptly and effectively and that the officers ought to conduct regular field visits to monitor the arrangements.

During the meeting, special focus was laid on dengue and other vector‑borne diseases. The Municipal Commissioner directed that anti‑larvicidal spraying, fogging and source reduction activities be carried out in all the wards as per the action plan. He directed that the waterlogged areas, construction sites, vacant plots, tyres, coolers and other potential breeding grounds be inspected regularly and necessary action taken to keep the mosquito population under control. He also stressed the need for a wide public awareness campaign to encourage citizens to maintain cleanliness around them and prevent unnecessary water stagnation.

The preparedness of Quick Response Teams (QRTs) was also reviewed on the occasion. Pandey instructed that all the QRTs remain fully active, trained and equipped with necessary tools and resources to provide immediate relief in cases of waterlogging, fallen trees, blocked drains or other emergencies. He asked officials to ensure better coordination with various departments for swift response.

The Commissioner insisted that the objective of the Municipal Corporation is to provide a clean, safe and healthy environment in every ward. He directed all officers to carry out regular field inspections, effective monitoring and to work with full responsibility and sensitivity towards public service, making it clear that negligence in matters related to sanitation, public health and civic amenities would not be tolerated.

Among those present at the meeting were senior officials of Dehradun Municipal Corporation, including Deputy Municipal Commissioner Tanveer Marwah, Chief Municipal Health Officer Anand Shukla, Assistant Municipal Commissioner Rajbir Singh Chauhan and all the Chief Sanitation Inspectors and the Sanitation Inspectors.
