Dehradun, 7 Sep: BJP MLA from Ranikhet (District Almora) Pramod Nainwal has hit the headlines again and again for the wrong reasons. A case under Arms Act has been registered at Banbasa police station in Champawat district against BJP MLA Pramod Nainwal’s brother Satish Nainwal and his companion Dinesh Chandra and both have been arrested in Banbasa in district Champawat by the SSB. During checking on the Indo-Nepal border under Banbasa police station area, SSB has arrested Satish Nainwal (Aged 40) and his alleged companion Dinesh Chandra (Aged 47). The news has evoked sharp reactions and allegations by the Opposition leaders against the government.
The SSB has recovered 40 live cartridges from them. At present, SSB has handed over the arrested accused to Banbasa Police. Further action is being taken by Banbasa police. Also, the police claim to be interrogating the accused and investigating their criminal history. According to the SSB sources, 40 live cartridges of 7.65 mm were recovered from the arrested accused while they were going from India to Nepal. On the instructions of SSB 57th Battalion Commandant Manohar Lal, intensive checking campaign is being conducted on Banbasa border for crime control. Last evening, SSB jawans checked the luggage of two people going from India to Nepal. Meanwhile it is being claimed that the Banbasa Police have allowed Satish Nainwal to go.
It may be recalled that MLA Pramod Nainwal and his brother Satish Nainwal have often been in news in past two years and mostly for wrong reasons. Satish Nainwal’s name had cropped up also in the Horticulture Scam and also in an alleged case of property dispute in which he had allegedly beaten up a village Pradhan Sandeep Khulbe. This had led to an open war of words between the MLA and a senior BJP leader Kailash Pant who is currently a Lal Batti holder. The BJP’s state leadership had to intervene to stop this war of words between the two BJP leaders. It remains to be seen if BJP leadership takes any action against the MLA’s brother or not in the case as the Congress leaders have made the arrest of Satish Nainwal’s arrest a major political issue today.
