Dehradun, 22 Feb: The alleged assault incident involving Director, Primary Education, Ajay Naudiyal has intensified and a counter complaint has now been lodged by the gunner of Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma Kau. Acting on the complaint of Constable Sushil Ramola, Police Station Raipur has registered a case against unidentified persons and begun an investigation.

According to Constable Sushil Ramola, the MLA visited the Directorate of Primary Education at Nanurkheda on Saturday afternoon along with his security personnel, including Constable Sudhir Bahuguna. The MLA had gone to seek progress on his earlier letter demanding that a Government school in Raipur be named after individuals who had donated the land free of cost. When he sought details and a copy of the correspondence sent to the Government, some persons present allegedly created a commotion.

It may be recalled that, earlier, Director Ajay Naudiyal had lodged a complaint at Raipur Police Station, on the basis of which a case was registered against MLA Umesh Sharma Kau and his supporters yesterday. In his complaint, the Director had alleged that the MLA and his associates entered his chamber without prior intimation at around 12.10 p.m. on Saturday and had directed employees to leave, used abusive language, assaulted staff, vandalised property and issued threats to kill.

Naudiyal had further alleged that after staff were asked to leave, he was misbehaved with and threatened, and the chamber door was locked from inside. Office staff subsequently informed the police helpline 112. When the door was opened and efforts were made to intervene, the situation allegedly turned violent, with assault and misconduct, including with women employees. The Director had further claimed that he and some staff sustained injuries, official files were torn, certain documents taken away and office furniture damaged. He stated that he suffered injuries to his eye and face and was taken to hospital. The dispute reportedly arose over the issue of renaming a Government school in Raipur.

At the same time, in his version, Constable Ramola alleged that certain individuals frequently remain seated with officials and had previously misbehaved with land donors. On Saturday, a person wearing a half-jacket allegedly hurled a mobile phone towards the MLA, which struck his shoulder and fell, escalating the dispute. He further alleged that slogans against the Government and the Chief Minister were raised to incite the crowd, and that the MLA and security staff were locked inside the premises from outside.

The gunner claimed that chairs were thrown and the situation worsened despite attempts to pacify those present. He stated that the security personnel managed with difficulty to escort the MLA safely out of the office. SHO Raipur, Girish Negi, confirmed that a case has been registered against unidentified persons on the complaint of Constable Sushil Ramola. The matter remains under investigation.
