Rudrapur, 6 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami awarded medals to the winners of the cycling competition held at the Sports Stadium Velodrome in Rudrapur under the 38th National Games, here, today. He congratulated the medal winners.
On this occasion, the CM witnessed the track cycling competition at the Shivalik Velodrome at Manoj Sarkar Sports Stadium from the gallery. Later, he also interacted with the players and did cycling on the cycle track. He then handed over the gold medal to the Services Sports Control Board, silver medal winner Punjab, and bronze medal winner Rajasthan in the men’s team pursuit 4000 metres competition. He also distributed to them the Pahadi caps. He had lunch with the players, who expressed happiness with the arrangements.

Speaking on the occasion, Dhami reminded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the ongoing 38th National Games from Dehradun on 28 January. He said the entire state has been enthusiastic since the inauguration, with about 20,000 people contributing directly and indirectly to the competitions. He also claimed that he is constantly updating himself on the arrangements and personally visiting the venues. Officials have been instructed to provide every possible facility to the players. So far, Uttarakhand players have won around 33 medals in various competitions, he reminded.
The CM mentioned that players from across the country have appreciated the velodrome. Multi-purpose halls have been constructed at various locations in the state. The Malkhamb competition is being organised in Chakarpur, Khatima, and rafting competition in Tanakpur. Sports competitions are being held at 11 different places in the state, inspiring young players to pursue sports as a career. The national games were inaugurated by the Prime Minister and will be concluded by Home Minister Amit Shah in Haldwani on 14 February, he reminded.
Dhami also inaugurated the shotgun and skeet competition at the 46th Battalion PAC by performing puja. He participated in trap shooting with a shotgun, met the players, and extended his best wishes.
Also present during the event were local MLA Shiv Arora, Lal Batti holder Anil Kapoor Dabbu, Uttam Dutta, newly elected Mayor of Rudrapur, Vikas Sharma, District BJP President Kamal Jindal, District BJP General Secretary Amit Narang, former Mayor Rampal Singh, District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria, SSP Manikant Mishra, and CDO Manish Kumar.
