DEHRADUN, 28 Dec: The Government has claimed that there is an air of excitement across the state about the forthcoming 38th National Games being hosted by Uttarakhand. Olympian players are getting ready to be part of this great event. Manish Rawat, who represented India in the Rio Olympics, will participate as a Coach rather than a player this time. Rawat, an Inspector with Uttarakhand Police, appeared in public for the first time with the torch in his hand. So also, Ankita Dhyani, who represented India in the Paris Olympics, may be in the Bangalore National Camp, but her enthusiasm for the National Games remains high. Suraj Panwar and Paramjeet Singh, who also participated in the Paris Olympics, are equally excited about the National Games. They are all set to take active participation in the prestigious event.
This time, Uttarakhand has the honour of hosting the 38th National Games, which are scheduled to start on January 28, 2025. It may be recalled that on Decembe15, the mascot of the National Games, Mouli, along with the torch and other symbols, were launched.
Commenting on the upcoming National Games, Manish Rawat stated that hosting the Games is a matter of pride and will prove to be a milestone from the point of view of sports development in the state. The infrastructure related to sports in the state will be strengthened. He added that he considers himself lucky that he was given the opportunity to hold the torch of the National Games during its launch.
A visibly excited Ankita Dhyani commented that this is the greatest thing happening in her home state. Apart from this, representing herself on her home soil is like icing on the cake. This is a big opportunity for the state not only in sports but in all aspects. It will give a lot of exposure to Uttarakhand, she asserted.
