One held, two absconding in assault case

Dehradun, 11 Sep: Police have arrested one accused in connection with a deadly attack on a youth in the Cantt area. The search is on for two more accused involved in the case.

On 7 September, Sujata Kshetri, a resident of Kumhar Mandi, lodged a complaint at Cantt Police Station. She stated that a group of youths attacked her son and assaulted him, leaving him seriously injured. Based on her complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the law.

Taking the matter seriously, a police team was formed to trace the accused. With the help of informers and continuous efforts, the team arrested Pratham Thakur (19), son of Surat Thakur, resident of Govindgarh, currently living in Prakash Nagar, on Thursday.

During interrogation, he revealed the names of two other accused, Jai and Shibbu, who are still absconding. Police are making efforts to arrest them soon.

The operation was carried out by the Cantt Police team led by Sub-Inspector Vinayata Chauhan, in charge of Bindal outpost, along with Constable Manoj.
