Dehradun, 6 Aug: Rescue operation of the passengers stranded at various places due to the blockage of the road caused by heavy rains in Kedar Valley was completed today. It may be recalled that disaster had struck in Kedar Valley due to cloudburst and excessive rains on 31 July 31. Rescue operations were launched from next morning itself and according to the government officials, Chief Minister himself has continuously monitored the rescue operation carried out to safely rescue the passengers stranded at different places on the Kedarnath footpath. The officials further claim that under the leadership of CM Dhami, the administration did not leave any stone unturned in providing relief to the affected people and rescuing the people.

The CM himself visited the disaster-affected areas twice. Whatever resources were needed by the teams engaged in relief and rescue operations, were immediately made available on the instructions of the Chief Minister. He kept seeking constant feedback about the rescue operation from the officials. Despite such a big disaster and widespread damage, the rescue operation was completed in less than a week, which shows that this is why Uttarakhand is seen as an ideal state in the entire country in the field of disaster management.

In this regard, Dhami reached Rudraprayag today for the second time to review the rescue and relief operations in the wake of the damage caused by excessive rains in Kedar Valley. He also reviewed preparations for the resumption of the Yatra. He also held a review meeting of the officers and employees concerned regarding the situation on ground. Before this, he also conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas. Dhami also reminded the media on the occasion that over 15 thousand passengers and local people have been rescued safely by air and pedestrian routes in record time. Now the rescue operation has been completed.

He said that the government is making every effort to normalise the situation in Kedar Valley as soon as possible. He informed that due to heavy rains, the pedestrian path and the roads have been blocked due to landslides at 29 places. A large number of government properties including drinking water and electricity lines have also been damaged. Telecommunication services were also disrupted at some places. Wherever the roads are damaged, work is being done on a war footing to repair them.
