Phool Dei celebrated at Raj Bhawan


DEHRADUN, 14 Mar: On the occasion of the famous folk festival of Uttarakhand, Phool Dei, children visited Raj Bhawan, here, and showered flower petals on its main entrance on Thursday.
Governor Baby Rani Maurya received the children at the entrance. Little girls carrying beautiful small baskets filled with flowers extended festival greetings to her. Following tradition, the Governor happily welcomed the little girls and gave them rice and other grains in return for their wishes.
The Governor said that Phool Dei is a festival dedicated to the conservation of nature. It has the uniqueness of Uttarakhand and spreads the message of closeness between life and nature. The children had to be connected with folk culture and traditions. She expressed her happiness at seeing little girls being involved in this traditional festival.
RK Sudhanshu, Secretary to the Governor, and organiser of the event, SB Maithani, were also present on the occasion.
