PM Modi initiates establishment of 3 new colleges in U’khand

DEHRADUN, 3 Feb: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under the second phase of the ‘Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan’ (RUSA) inaugurated 70 new model degree colleges, eleven professional colleges, one women university and more than 60 higher education institutes of entrepreneurship and innovation through video conferencing by pressing the remote button at Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) on Sunday. These included two new model degree colleges at Kiccha and Laldhang and one professional college at Paithani in Uttarakhand.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the new educational institutions being opened under the second phase of RUSA will help in building a new India and also help provide a new temperament for research, innovation, incubation and start ups. He said that all the schools in the country should have ‘Atal Tinkering Labs’ and efforts are being made for setting up “Atal Incubation Centres’. He said “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan and Jai Anusandhan” was his resolve and it was getting strengthened, and Srinagar has become a witness to it. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat thanked the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for establishing two new model degree colleges and one professional college in Uttarakhand. He said that with the opening of two model degree colleges at Kiccha and Laldhang and professional college at Paithani, the youth of the area would get modern and technical higher education and pave the way for their better future. The opening of a professional college at Paithani would prove to be milestone in providing technical education to the youth. He said that more technically qualified youth from the state would be able to join the national mainstream.
During the programme at Paithani, Minister of State for Higher Education Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Secretary Vinod Raturi and District Magistrate, Pauri, were present. Dr Dhan Singh Rawat disclosed that for model degree colleges at Kichha and Laldhang, a sum of Rs 12 crore, each, and for the professional college at Paithani, a sum of Rs 26 crore had been received from the central government. He further said that only employment oriented courses would be run at Paithani and the formalities for the selection of land for these colleges have been completed.
At the ceremony in the Laldhang College, Haridwar MP Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Legislator Yatishwarnand, Additional Chief Secretary Dr Ranveer Singh, Vice-President, Higher Education Upgradation Committee, Deepti Rawat were present. Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that the Laldhang Model College to be set up at Meethi Beri will provide model and employment-oriented education and the youth of the area would be able to further their abilities.
At the ceremony at Khurpia Farm in Kiccha, where the model college would be set at on 13 acres of land, Legislator Rajesh Shukla, District Magistrate Neeraj Khairwal, Higher Education Director BC Malkani were present. Shukla said that the days of progress in Kiccha had started with the founding of the new model college. He called upon the executing agency to build a college building which could be durable and be an example of quality.
