Mussoorie, 26 Jun: Preparations have intensified to make the ‘Maa Nanda Rajjat Yatra 2027’—a world-renowned symbol of Uttarakhand’s faith, culture, and folk traditions—grand, divine, and historic. An important review meeting was held regarding the proposed 2027 Yatra, at which detailed deliberations took place concerning preparations, logistical arrangements, and future action plans.
Presided over by Dr Rajesh Kunwar, members of the Shri Nanda Devi Rajjat Samiti and the Rajjat Core Committee discussed the pilgrimage route, halting points, basic amenities, security arrangements, and potential challenges in detail. Speakers emphasised that the Nanda Rajjat is not merely a religious pilgrimage but the greatest celebration of Uttarakhand’s cultural identity and folk faith; collective effort is required to give it global recognition. Special emphasis was placed on providing superior facilities to the lakhs of devotees participating in the Yatra. The need for comprehensive preparations regarding drinking water, healthcare services, accommodation, sanitation, communication networks, and disaster management along the route was highlighted. Furthermore, the importance of conducting the Yatra in a manner consistent with environmental conservation and local culture was underscored. Speakers noted that the ‘Shri Nanda Rajjat Seva Samiti’ was formed during the 2014 Yatra to ensure societal participation. Since then, the committee has been continuously working to strengthen arrangements along the route and at halting points. The goal this time, too, is to make the Yatra a success through the coordination of the government, social organisations, and the local public. Intellectuals, social activists, and experts from various fields participated in the meeting and shared suggestions to make the Yatra more organised and effective. Everyone unanimously agreed that this historic pilgrimage could only be made successful through public participation and collective effort. It was also decided during the meeting that the next session would be held in Dehradun on 12 July to review the progress of preparations and the upcoming action plan. This meeting will involve an evaluation of the work done so far and the formulation of future strategies. At the conclusion of the meeting, all attendees collectively pledged to work with utmost sincerity and dedication to ensure that the Maa Nanda Rajjat Yatra-2027 becomes a grand, magnificent, safe, and historic event. Speakers expressed confidence that, driven by public cooperation and collective effort, this pilgrimage would elevate Uttarakhand’s glorious tradition to new heights. Several dignitaries were present at the meeting, including Bhuvan Nautiyal, Bishan Singh Kunwar, Dr. Avinash Joshi, multilingual litterateur Dharam Singh Farswan, Colonel DC Bartwal, and Brigadier Mohit Nautiyal.
