Punjab Forum discusses Guru Nanak Dev’s 550th Birth Anniversary Celebrations

New Delhi, 9 May: After Dr Raju Chadha, founder of the International Punjab Forum led a top delegation of eminent Punjabis on the occasion of the Jallianwala Bagh Centenary Commemoration organised at the House of Lords in London, last month, he once again hosted leading members of the forum in the capital, today. Apart from deliberating on the success of the London visit whereby Dr Raju Chadha sought the British Government’s apology for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the members also discussed the forthcoming Guru Nanak Dev’s 550th Prakash Parab celebrations.
The International Punjab Forum has decided to commemorate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev at the national as well as international level in a befitting manner. Leading entrepreneur, philanthropist and film presenter Dr Raju Chadha and Chairman, Wave Cinemas, founded the International Punjab Forum aimed at “Sarbat Da Bhala” or common good of all. This initiative strives to work towards enhancing Punjabiyat or the Punjabi culture and way of life across the globe. Its mission statement stipulates downsizing Punjabi weddings by doing away with printing expensive invitation cards and ostentatious functions. Using common technology like WhatsApp to invite people and holding simple weddings at the Gurudwara would be encouraged henceforth.
This niche event saw many illustrious Punjabis turning up for this great cause.
