CM celebrates Raksha Bandhan with women in Champawat

Champawat, 30 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a Raksha Bandhan function organised at Ramlila Maidan in Dubchauda Ladhauli in Birgul area here today. While addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister stated that the women of the state are empowering others economically and socially by becoming self-reliant on the strength of their work and self-confidence. The women are representing the country on the world stage in almost every field.
Dhami also wished everyone on Raksha Bandhan. A large number of women from different areas of the district tied Rakhis to the Chief Minister and wished for his long life. Dhami expressed his gratitude to the women who came to share their love for him as their brother. He reminded that this festival symbolises the sacred relationship between brother and sister, and is also a festival of spiritual and cultural importance which honours women. He assured the women present that he would protect them as well as work for their interests. He also promised that the benefits of public welfare schemes would be extended to the maximum number of people in the state.
The CM also appreciated the Rakhis and other handmade products made from pine needles, Aipan, cotton and other local products by the self-help groups of the district. He said that, while the women of Champawat district are promoting local products by implementing ‘Vocal for Local’, commendable work is also being done by them by providing employment to others. He said that, to empower women financially, the government is giving interest free loans up to Rs 5 lakh to women self-help groups. He said that ‘Mahila Sashakt Brahm Utsav Yojana’ has been started in the state to strengthen women.
Dhami said that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many works are being done in the direction of women empowerment. He also observed that, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Prime Minister Modi has reduced the cooking gas cost for women by Rs 200 and by Rs 400 under the Ujjwala scheme, which will directly benefit about 33 crore women and their families across the country. The purpose of various public welfare schemes being run by the Prime Minister is to integrate everybody into the mainstream.
CM Dhami said that many development works are being done to make Champawat district a leading district of Uttarakhand. Many schemes have been run by the government for the upliftment and empowerment of women. Through these schemes today women are getting better markets and prices for their products.
During the programme, the CM made a total of 12 announcements for the development of the area. Dhami also honoured the activists of the region, the families of brave martyrs, ex-servicemen and Vir Naris.
On this occasion Geeta Pushkar Dhami, District Panchayat President Jyoti Rai, BJP District President Nirmal Mahra, Superintendent of Police Devendra Pincha, Nodal Officer, Chief Minister’s Camp Office, Kedar Singh Brijwal and local public representatives, officers and employees were present.
