Dehradun 9 Oct: BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt today claimed that Joshimath will once again become a safe and even better place with the help of the rehabilitation package approved for it by the Centre.

He was speaking informally with the media persons at the BJP State Headquarters here today. He claimed that the implementation of the rehabilitation package would be done under the direct supervision and monitoring of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Bhatt, while responding to a question by the media persons regarding the Joshimath disaster rehabilitation package, added that the state had submitted the assessment regarding the losses due to the disaster in Joshimath and had placed a demand for rehabilitation and repair works before the Centre after due discussions. The assessment has been made on the basis of studies conducted by the experts and scientists and the technical agencies, as well as after discussions held with the affected families of Joshimath. On that basis, the Union Government has approved a fair economic package for the reconstruction of Joshimath. The current financial assistance is the best package ever made for a particular area in Uttarakhand. He said that this entire rehabilitation work would be done by the state government under direct monitoring by the Prime Minister’s Office. Whatever work would be done would be completely under the supervision of experts.

Bhatt claimed that under the supervision of PM Modi and the leadership of CM Dhami, soon a safer and a grand Joshimath would come about.

Hitting back at those who raised questions on the package, Bhatt said that these are the same people who wanted to harm the country by blaming strategic projects for the disaster, but after the collective report of top expert institutions, their agenda stood exposed. Prime Minister Modi is very concerned about the people of Joshimath, hence the repair and rehabilitation work will be monitored by the PMO. Those who had raised questions about the rehabilitation package have been appropriately responded to by the government at the Centre and the state.
