Dehradun, 7 Oct: Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan today chaired a meeting at her chamber in the Vidhan Sabha, where she emphasised that all the personnel needed to work in a professional manner to establish the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha as an ideal assembly of the country.
She insisted that the personnel understand their responsibility and work honestly and conscientiously. It may be recalled that she had also conducted a surprise inspection earlier this week of the offices in the Assembly Secretariat and had found callousness on part of the employees. In the meeting held today, she said that if the working system of the assembly was to be improved, then everyone concerned would have to work sincerely and in coordination with each other.
It may be pertinent to point out here that, in a rather unprecedented move, the Assembly Speaker had sought report from each officer posted in Assembly Secretariat regarding his or her work and performance. This, she claimed has been done with the aim of empowering the Assembly. Today, it was the turn of a review meeting. On this occasion, private secretaries working with the chairpersons in the Assembly committees constituted by her and the section officers, under secretaries, deputy secretaries of all the sections were present. At the same time, the private secretaries were asked in detail about the meetings of the committees. She insisted that the meetings of the committees be held continuously, for this, she instructed the officials to inform the chairpersons of the various committees by writing letters to them in respect of holding regular meetings of their respective committees.
Bhushan said that in this regard soon a group meeting would be held with the chairpersons of all the committees. The Speaker of the Assembly instructed all the officers to work in harmony with each other. The Speaker said that she wanted to rise above politics and do social service for Uttarakhand and also wanted to ensure improvements in the working of the State Assembly and also to set up systems such as e-office, e-Vidhan Sabha, e-library in the assembly of Uttarakhand. During the meeting, the Speaker also interacted with the officials regarding the preparations for the upcoming assembly session.
