Dehradun, 10 Jul: On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, an amount of Rs 3 crores has been sanctioned by the government for the arrangements for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra in the state.

An amount of Rs 3 crore has been approved by the government to conduct the upcoming Kanwar Yatra 2024 in a systematic manner. This amount has been approved against the demands raised by the departments concerned to make various arrangements for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra 2024. The amount has been placed at the disposal of District Magistrate, Haridwar. It may be recalled that the CM had earlier issued instructions to the officers in the review meetings to conduct the arrangements of Kanwar Yatra in a systematic manner.

The Chief Minister has also directed that in view of the number of Shiva devotees who came in last year’s Kanwar Yatra and the arrangements, special attention be paid to the necessary facilities to be made available for the devotees coming on the Kanwar Yatra this year. He also directed that special attention be paid to ensure peace and law and order and effective traffic management during this time.

In this regard, Additional Secretary, Urban Development, Nitin Bhadoria shared with the media that in the Government Order addressed to District Magistrate, Haridwar, that for the arrangements of Kanwar Mela-2024, the demand for funds received from various departments should be reviewed at the level of the DM and the funds should be spent strictly in accordance with the financial rules by selecting the most essential works. If as per the rules, it is necessary to obtain financial and administrative approval of the government separately for the estimation of any construction work, etc., in that case proposals should be submitted to the government separately.
