Safe medicine, safe life campaign undertaken by Legal Services Authority, Almora

Almora, 27 Jun: Under the direction of Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority, Nainital, and under the guidance of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Almora, Shrikant Pandey, Shashi Sharma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Almora, a legal awareness camp was organised in Ramsay Inter College and village Ladhauli, a remote area on the occasion of the two-day ‘Safe Drugs: Safe Life Campaign’.

The people present were informed about the ill effects of drugs, prevention, use of safe medicines, NALSA helpline number 15100, NALSA, SALSA, functions of District Legal Services Authority, role of Adhikar Mitra, process of free legal aid, NALSA (Legal Services to Disaster Victims through Legal Services Authorities) Scheme 2010, etc., and pamphlets related to the campaign were also distributed. Adhikar Mitras were also present at the camp.

Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Almora, Senior Drug Inspector Meenakshi Bisht, Drug Inspector, Almora, Pooja Joshi and Additional Chief Medical Officer, Almora, Dr Pramod Jangpangi conducted a joint surprise inspection of various medical stores of Almora as part of the “Safe Drugs: Safe Life” campaign. During the inspection, expired medicines were checked and licences of medical store operators were also checked.

The Secretary, DLSA, Almora, said that expiry boxes have not been designated in some medical stores and CCTV cameras have not been installed. A lot of dirt was found in some medical stores and medicines were found kept in a disorderly manner. Expired medicines can be very harmful for people. Instructions were given to medical store operators to make expiry boxes as per rules in medical stores and provide bills to all customers and install cameras in shops, etc.
