‘Sanskrit Conversation Camp’ inaugurated in Secretariat

Dehradun, 29 May: In a step towards the preservation and promotion of Sanskrit, the Government of Uttarakhand launched a ‘Sanskrit Sambhashan Shivir’ (Sanskrit Conversation Camp) in the Secretariat campus, here, today. The camp was inaugurated in the presence of all Cabinet Ministers and the Chief Secretary by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting and promoting India’s cultural heritage and the Sanskrit language. He stated, “With this aim, we are developing one Sanskrit village in each of the 13 districts of Uttarakhand, and we are confident that the results of this initiative will be visible soon.”

He further mentioned that, through the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy, the government is running multiple schemes to connect the general public with India’s ancient knowledge systems such as the Vedas, Darshans (philosophical schools), and Upanishads. “The preservation and growth of Sanskrit is one of our top priorities,” he emphasised.

Secretary, Sanskrit Education, Deepak Kumar Gairola, stated that, for the first time, from 29 May to 12 June, Sanskrit conversation classes are being conducted in the Secretariat complex. These classes will provide spoken Sanskrit training to Secretariat officers and employees, for which necessary instructions have been issued by the Department of Secretariat Administration.

Prominent attendees included Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Secretary to the Chief Minister, Vinay Shankar Pandey, Deputy Secretary Pradeep Mohan Nautiyal, Under Secretary Geeta Sharad, Secretary, Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy, Vajashrava Arya, along with Chandi Prasad Ghildiyal, Anusuya Prasad Sundariyal, Harish Gururani, Om Prakash Bhatt, and others.
