Dehradun, 2 Sep: In a unique festival of the Himalayas held at the Tribal Doon Sanskriti School, ITITI, Jhajhra, State Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal expressed concern at the shrinking Himalayan space in the state resulting in climate change and temperatures as high as 44 degree C in Dehradun. He said, “If we are serious about saving culture then the first step is to save Himalayas.”
He also felicitated ‘Food Safety Missionaries’ from Goa, Dr Susan Joseph and PJ Joseph. They are spreading saplings of jackfruit as it’s the largest forest fruit that helps to eradicate hunger.
Luminaries like PCCF Dhana, Dr Durgesh Pant, MD UCOST, Tarun Vijay, former MP, attended. Subodh Uniyal also inaugurated state’s first Miyawaki Forest in the school campus – a Japanese technique to conserve water.
Ritwik Vijay, Director of the school, Anjali Rai, Principal, Ankit Mathur of Kelvin School and RSS functionary Neeraj Mittal, and several cultural ambassadors, forest officers and tree lovers attended.
