Dehradun, 12 Sep: SBS University has made history by hosting the inaugural combined NCC Basic Leadership Camp (BLC) and Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) from 4 to 13 September. Over 600 cadets from various schools and colleges participated in this week-long intensive training programme, honing their leadership skills, discipline, and teamwork.

The camp’s rigorous schedule encompassed morning physical training, drill practice, weapon handling, firing simulations and map reading exercises. The university’s campus was transformed into a miniature military cantonment, providing an immersive and authentic training experience.

Major General Atul Rawat, ADG of NCC, graced the camp with his presence, inspiring the cadets with his leadership and guidance. Dr Gaurav Deep Singh, President of the University, and Prof (Dr) J Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, extended a warm welcome to Major General Rawat and presented him a token of appreciation. Major General Rawat emphasised the importance of leading by example, instilling discipline, and building confidence in future leaders.

Another distinguished guest, Major General Prem Raj, GOC, Sub Area, also addressed the cadets, sharing his insights on leadership and communication. Prof (Dr) J Kumar welcomed Major General Prem Raj and presented him a token of gratitude. Major General Prem Raj highlighted the crucial role of effective communication in SSB interviews, emphasising the need for clear expression, engagement, and teamwork.

A notable highlight of the camp was a seminar on clean energy and nuclear power conducted by Dr Harish Gour from Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited. This seminar provided cadets with valuable knowledge about modern power generation technologies.

Beyond military training, the camp fostered holistic development through cultural and recreational activities such as group singing, dancing, and sports events. These activities encouraged teamwork and camaraderie among the cadets.

The event was expertly coordinated by Lt (Dr) Mohit Bhatt from the 29 UK Boys Battalion, reflecting the dedication and commitment of SBS University’s NCC Wing to providing comprehensive cadet development.
