Schools meeting standards will be upgraded: Dr Dhan Singh Rawat

Dehradun, 25 Feb: Schools meeting the required standards under the School Education Department will be upgraded. Departmental officials have been directed to take action on proposals related to school upgradation. Chief Education Officers have been instructed to submit proposals for upgrading upper primary and higher secondary schools from their respective districts to the Directorate. Additionally, officials have been directed to promptly act on the upgradation proposals included in the Chief Minister’s announcements.

State Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat held a review meeting of the School Education Department at his official residence, here, today. During the meeting, he sought updates from departmental officials regarding school upgradation and expressed displeasure over delays in the process. Dr Rawat emphasised that all government schools across the state that meet the necessary upgradation criteria should be upgraded without delay. He ordered that proposals for upgrading junior high schools and high schools should be promptly collected through the Chief Education Officers at the district level. This will ensure that local students have better access to education in a timely manner.

The Minister added that, currently, nine schools meet the required standards for upgradation from high school to intermediate level. These include Government Higher Secondary Schools in Phungar, Salli, and Palso of Champawat district; Swahid Fateh Singh Government Higher Secondary School in Badav, Rudraprayag; Government Higher Secondary Schools in Med and Chamasari, Tehri; Beladi, Haridwar; Kantli, Almora; and Kaidagaon, Nainital. Orders for their upgradation will be issued soon. Additionally, officials have been instructed to take immediate action on various school upgradation proposals included in the Chief Minister’s announcement. In cases where schools do not fully meet the required standards, a proposal for relaxation of criteria should be sent to the Chief Minister.

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary, School Education, Ranjana Rajguru, Director General Banshidhar Tiwari, Additional Secretary MM Semwal, In-charge Director, Primary Education, Ajay Kumar Naudiyal, In-charge Director, Secondary Education, Dr Mukul Sati, Additional Project Director Kuldeep Gairola, Deputy Secretary Anil Pandey, Assistant Secretary Vikas Srivastava, and Staff Officer, Samagra Shiksha BP Mandoli, among other departmental officials.
