Dehradun, 7 Apr: An extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Congress party and a national convention, titled Maha-Adhiveshan, are set to take place on 8 and 9 April in Ahmedabad. Prominent Congress leaders from Uttarakhand, including state president Karan Mahra, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya, former state presidents Ganesh Godiyal and Pritam Singh, and former cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat, have left for Gujarat to participate in the session.

Leaders from Uttarakhand have claimed that these two days will serve as an opportunity for party leaders to receive guidance from the top leadership and deliberate on pressing national issues. State spokesperson Sheeshpal Bisht stated that the national convention on 9 April aims to invigorate party leaders and workers. He emphasised that the country is currently facing numerous challenges, and the session will provide insights from senior leaders on addressing these concerns effectively.

The Congress party’s Maha Manthan in Ahmedabad is expected to focus on strengthening the organisation and charting a new course for the future. Party leaders have indicated that discussions will include India’s economic situation, particularly in light of tariff policies introduced by US President Trump. Additionally, strategies to bolster the Congress party at the organisational level will be formulated during the session. It was also shared that the national convention of the Congress will be held in Gujarat after a gap of 64 years and precedes the assembly elections due next year in the state.
