Dehradun, 19 Aug: Before the commencement of Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy 2025, team leaders from all participating countries met the technical officials in Dehradun. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 20th August at 3 PM, while the races will start on 21th August morning.
The technical panel included Asian Skating Union (ASU) President Chang Myong-Hi, ASU Event Director Soojung Chang, Chief Referee Hyewon Park, along with assistant referees Kiyoto Iwashita, Matthew Mak Wai Jie, and Sangmi An. Starters Sonja Chong and Zongze Ji, and competitor stewards Bokhee Kwon and Shen Ling were also part of the panel.
ASU President praised the ice conditions and thanked ISAI President Amitabh Sharma for bringing this event to India. He said this is a historic moment as the Asian Trophy is being hosted in India for the first time.
Sharma announced that the opening ceremony will be held on 20th August at 3 PM. All participating countries will join with their teams and flag bearers in a parade.
To ensure safety, ISAI has tied up with the Chief Medical Officer of Dehradun, CHC Raipur, and Coronation Hospital for medical support. Jildou Gemser, Chair of the International Skating Union Development, said she was very impressed with the arrangements. She appreciated that officials from different countries have come together for this event.
The opening ceremony will feature performances by Indian figure and speed skaters, followed by the team parade. The races will begin on 21th August morning, and medal ceremonies will also take place on the same day.
