Dehradun, 11 Dec: “The magic of theatre has the power to transform an audience, an individual or masses, by giving them an experience that changes their life, opens their hearts their minds and the way they think.”
Keeping these words in mind, KSM Film Productions and FLO Uttarakhand, in association with NZCC, Patiala, and Pancham Ved Creation Charitable Trust, organised ‘The Great Mountain Theatre Festival’, a theatrical event to revive theatre at the Olympus High Auditorium, here, today.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was MLA Savita Kapoor, and the Guest of Honour, Dr Usha RK, a well-known Arts Consultant and former Director, Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Moscow, and Member Secretary, Ministry of Culture.
The programme commenced with the welcoming of the dignitaries and lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Managing Director Dr Kunal Shamshere Malla and Principal Dr Anuradha Pundeer Malla of Olympus High. This was followed by a welcome speech by Dr Kunal Shamshere Malla.
The highlight of the event was the play, ‘Aao Thoda Muskura Lein’, a family comedy which addresses a social issue, directed by Kamlesh Sharma. The play is written in Hindi as well as Haryanvi, and has been staged since 2013. Director Kamlesh Sharma holds a diploma in “Indian Theatre” from Punjab University, Chandigarh. She has also produced and directed short films and video plays. She has also been honoured by prestigious organisations such as ‘Akhil Bhartiya Sahitya Parishad’ and ‘Karvaan–e–Adab’. There was also an open discussion on the play. Kamlesh Sharma was presented with a memento by the Managing Director and the Principal of Olympus High. The Chief Guest was then invited on the dais to address the gathering.
The programme culminated with a vote of thanks by the FICCI FLO Chairperson, Dr Anuradha Pundeer Malla expressing her heartfelt gratitude to the guests and the audience for gracing the occasion.
