Gairsain, 21 Aug: As soon as the House assembled for the post lunch sitting at 5 p.m., today, on behalf of the CM and the Urban Development Minister, Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal tabled three bills following which the House was adjourned till 11 a.m. tomorrow.

Usually, in case of tributes paid to the deceased members of the House on the first day of any assembly session, the tradition in UP and in Uttarakhand Assemblies has been to adjourn the House for the day without any further business, but today was an exception when the government tabled three bills in the House with Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan’s permission. The cue in this regard has perhaps been taken from the tradition followed in Parliament, where the sitting continues after paying the tributes even to the deceased sitting members of the House.

On behalf of the CM and the Urban Development Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal, senior Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal tabled the Uttarakhand Public and Private Property Damage Recovery Amendment Bill and also two bills proposing upgradation of the status of the Municipal Councils to the status of Municipal Corporation in case of Almora and Pithoragarh and regarding upgradation of status in case of other urban local bodies. Ther other bill is regarding reservations of the wards for various categories including the OBC. Following this, the House was adjourned till 11 a.m. tomorrow.

The government is likely to table the supplementary demands of around Rs 5,000 crores in the House tomorrow. Apart from this, several bills and representations will also be tabled. In contrast to the annual budget, the supplementary budget does not warrant a long discussion and can be passed by voice vote.
