DEHRADUN, 3 Mar: Opening the 185DTMC/ 143 DVTMC meeting of Dehradun Toastmasters’ Club, President of the club, Antriksh Garg, welcomed all members and guests. The meeting was conducted by TM Antriksh Garg, as Toastmaster of the Day. He discussed how giving back was good because giving gave one purpose. When persons lived a purpose driven life, they tended to be happier.
Prakash played the role of Table Topic Master and conducted the session in an interesting manner by giving each volunteer a situation and asking them to speak about it.
In the prepared speech segment, the first speaker, Atal Semwal, talked about how education and training were outdated nowadays and how the way children were taught needed to be changed. The way things are taught is over 200 years old. The second speaker, Robin Tyagi, spoke on “Everybody can read”. He said that in a world with more than 200 million children and youth, the educated youth had tremendous capabilities to bring about a change. In the end, he asked the audience to be more aware and compassionate and start thinking about this one thought that everybody can read.
The last speaker, Manika Pant, gave a few inspiring examples of women who never gave up on their dreams irrespective of the hardships in their lives and ended up making their mark on the world due to rock solid determination and persistence.
General Evaluator Harry Sethi and his team of evaluators and auxiliary role players gave their constructive feedback on the speeches.
Mini was given the best table topic award. Prashant was given the best role player award, and Robin Tyagi was not only awarded as the best speaker but also the best auxiliary role player and Antriksh Garg was the best evaluator.
The next meeting is scheduled to be held on 10 March.
