CM hands over appointment letters to 182 selected PCS candidates

Dehradun, 3 Jul: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today handed over appointment letters to 187 successful candidates, including 182 selected through the PCS Main Examination 2024 and five chosen for the post of Personal Assistant in the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, at a programme held at his Camp Office, here. Extending his best wishes to the newly appointed officers on this occasion, the CM observed that the appointment letters are not merely documents of entry into government service but represent the trust, expectations and commitment to public service of 1.25 crore people of Uttarakhand. He also asserted on this occasion that the identity of every officer would now be defined not by designation but by work ethic, sensitivity and dedication to public service.
Dhami shared that nearly 1.5 lakh candidates had applied for the PCS Main Examination 2024, of whom more than 71,000 appeared and only 182 were selected. He said this achievement reflects the talent, hard work, discipline and determination of the successful candidates. Stressing that, in a democracy, a post signifies service of the people rather than authority, he said the state government was working with the mantra of simplification, resolution, disposal and satisfaction. He urged the new officers to ensure that government schemes and services reach the last person in society with sensitivity and transparency and that every citizen, especially from remote areas, experience and receive respect, trust and timely solutions in government offices.
The CM also reminded the gathering of the government’s efforts to ensure transparency in recruitment and added that the strictest anti-cheating law in the country has been implemented in Uttarakhand, which has strengthened youth confidence in examinations. He noted that, in the past four and a half years, more than 34,000 youths have been appointed to government services with complete transparency and fairness and with the addition of 187 more, the government’s commitment to youth welfare had become stronger. He reiterated that the government’s goal is to provide opportunities to every youth in Uttarakhand according to talent and merit so that they are not compelled to seek employment outside the state. He said the government is working to make, both, the water and youth of the hills the greatest strength of Uttarakhand’s development.
Dhami recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had described the third decade of the 21st century as Uttarakhand’s decade from the sacred land of Baba Kedar, and said the newly appointed officers would play a crucial role in realising this vision. He stressed that while governments frame policies, it is the responsibility of officers and employees to implement them effectively on the ground. He called upon the officers to work with complete honesty, integrity and dedication for building a developed Uttarakhand at the same time assured that the government would stand firmly with every officer and employee who work with fairness and sincerity. He urged them to discharge their duties free from any pressure, giving top priority to the Constitution, law and public interest.
