Mussoorie, 23 Apr: The Chardham Yatra has started in Uttarakhand. The Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams opened on Saturday with rituals and the Kedarnath Dham will open on 25 April. Continuous efforts are being made by the Government of Uttarakhand to make the journey smooth by providing better facilities to all the passengers going for the Chardham Yatra. Registration of all the passengers is being done.
All the departments concerned are providing facilities to devotees at their level. The Transport Department is also constructing hi-tech checkposts on the Chardham Yatra route, for which the comfort of the driver and operator along with the devotees is being assured and toilet facilities made available. Uttarakhand Transport Minister Chandan Ramdas inaugurated the hi-tech check post built by the Transport Department at Kothal Gate on the Dehradun-Mussoorie road.
The Transport Minister was welcomed by the Dehradun RTO. Ramdas inaugurated the Check Post and gave gifts to the pilgrims going on the Char Dham Yatra. He interacted with the passengers and wished them a pleasant journey.
Minister Chandan Ramdas stated that special arrangements have been made for the pilgrims. Continuous efforts are being made by the government that the devotees do not leave without having darshan. He said that the transport department has given special tests to the drivers and conductors and also arranged for their stay, food and rest. He disclosed that five hi-tech check posts are to be set up on the Gangotri Yamunotri route, out of which three check posts have been inaugurated. He said that the fleet of buses will be increased in Uttarakhand. Tenders for 100 buses have been finalised, while 200 CNG buses and 60 electric buses will soon join the fleet of the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation. He said that the new buses will also be operated on the Mussoorie Dehradun route.
The Dehradun RTO and nodal officer of the Chardham Yatra added that the hi-tech check posts will function online, while providing basic facilities onsite. He said that special arrangements have been made by the department to ensure that no passenger coming to Uttarakhand is troubled. Pilgrims are being allowed on the Char Dham Yatra only after registration.
