By Arun Pratap Singh
Dehradun, 15 Jul: Participating in the BJP’s State Executive Committee meeting held today at the Graphic Era Convention Centre, here, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami asserted that the Uniform Civil Code will certainly be implemented across the state before 9 November, 2024, which is State Formation Day. He was addressing the party workers on this occasion.
This statement of CM Dhami comes in the wake of the declaration by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board that it will challenge the UCC Act legislated by Uttarakhand Government in the Supreme Court.
Speaking informally with media persons here on the sidelines of the party’s executive meeting, party spokesman Suresh Joshi said that this statement of the Chief Minister is a stamp on the vision document of the BJP and points out the certainty of early implementation of the Unform Civil Code (UCC) in the state. Joshi said that BJP had envisaged one country, one flag and one constitution in its Sankalp Patra. The UCC is a step taken in that direction. Joshi said that on 9 November, 2024, the state of Uttarakhand will become the first in the country where the Uniform Civil Code will be fully implemented. He reminded that lot of work has been done on all the technical aspects regarding this for a long time. He rejected the charge that the UCC Bill suffers from several technical lacunae and added that the UCC law has been passed in due consultation with experts in law and social and religious affairs. The President of India has also approved the Bill which should not leave any doubt in anyone’s mind that it may have technical issues. He said that the law is already legislated but only the technical modalities remain to be completed for the convenience of the people. Joshi also reminded that two days ago the Chairman of the Implementation Committee of UCC had shared with the media that the technical formalities are in an advance stage of finalisation. Reacting to the announcement by All India Muslim Personal Law Board to challenge the UCC Act in the Supreme Court, Suresh Joshi said that it is a constitutional right of any person to do so regarding any rule or law. He said that the UCC Drafting Committee has prepared its draft keeping in mind all the technical and legal aspects. Joshi asserted that such challenges can’t weaken the resolve of the government and the BJP Party on implementing the UCC at the earliest.
Meanwhile, addressing the Extended Executive Committee meeting, CM Dhami stated that the party has become popular among all only due to the sheer hard work of its leaders and workers. He added that the party workers have to face so many challenges at the grassroots level, but despite this, every BJP worker stands with the top party leaders. On the strength of their selfless service and dedication, the party was able to win all the five Lok Sabha seats. Dhami added that the party’s victory on all the 5 Lok Sabha seats is the victory of every party worker. Every scheme of the state and the centre was taken to the public. The result of everyone’s continuous efforts is that BJP has become the largest political party in the world. Behind this is the hard work and sacrifice of its crores of workers. BJP has accomplished every impossible task but never compromised on its principles, be it Article 370 or the issue of Triple Talaq, Uniform Civil Code or Ram Mandir construction. All these reflect the ideological resolve of BJP. The country is witness to the image of India that has been created in the world under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. The outcomes that will emerge from this great churning at the State Executive Committee Meeting would take the party further ahead.
Dhami asserted that that in Uttarakhand, too, the party workers and leaders need to work with team spirit. He said that the party will soon face the challenge of upcoming civic and panchayat polls as well as the Kedarnath byelection. Every worker has to take every scheme of the government to the people.
The CM also expressed concern over “attempts to create needless controversies like Garhwal- Kumaon division and about the construction of Kedarnath temple in Delhi. Rumours are also being spread that Char Dham Yatra will be started from Ramnagar. Some people are trying to turn casteism and regionalism into political issues. The CM asserted that the government will not let the wolves hiding in the skin of a lion doing such work succeed. He added that the government has done its best towards smooth conduct of Char Dham Yatra. When the number of devotees increased, then the government was forced to start registration. The objective was to ensure that not a single devotee coming for the Yatra suffers any harm and is able to return safely after the journey. The government will not let those spreading rumours or creating baseless issues succeed because integrated development of the entire state is the goal of his government which will be accomplished.
