U’chal University holds convocation ceremony for foreign students

Dehradun, 27 Jun: The first convocation ceremony for foreign students was organised today in the Swami Vivekanand Auditorium of Uttaranchal University, here. President, Uttaranchal University, Jitendra Joshi, was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Students from eight countries around the world were included among those who received degrees. Parents of the students also participated in the programme with great enthusiasm.

The programme commenced with the convocation procession. The procession was traditionally led by the University’s Registrar, Dr Anuj Rana, while the Chief Guest followed at the rear. With the entry of the procession, the entire auditorium reverberated with the chanting of mantras. The effect of Indian tradition and Vedic mantras was visible on the foreign students. Students from Ethiopia, Ghana, Liberia, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, Zambia and Zimbabwe were included among the students who received degrees. Even as the foreign students were delighted to get degrees from Uttaranchal University, they also experienced satisfaction at the prospect of returning to their respective countries after receiving education in India.

They said that they are taking not only degrees from Uttaranchal University but also the sweet memories of the Land of the Gods and Goddesses, Uttarakhand. Its indelible mark would remain in their conduct throughout their life.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Dharma Buddhi, read the progress report of the University. He said that, impressed by the education system, innovation, research and incomparable educational environment of the university’s campus, students from more than 17 countries of the world are receiving education from Uttaranchal University. Courses like BSc (Biotechnology), BBA, BCA, MSc (Food Technology), MSc (Agriculture), MTech, MBA, MCA, MHA, MPH, etc., have attracted foreign students the most.

In his address, Jitendra Joshi said that, while India’s education policy and reputation became the reason for the attraction of foreign students on the one hand, Uttaranchal University also left no stone unturned in providing the desired educational environment to the students. He told the foreign students that by assimilating the lifestyle and education of India, they will become successful in their lives.

On this occasion, Vice President of the University Governing Committee Anuradha Joshi, Vice President Ankita Joshi, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, Executive Director Dr Abhishek Joshi, Prof Pradeep Suri, Prof Poonam Rawat, Prof Shravan Kumar, Prof Ajay Singh, Prof Sonal Sharma, Prof Sumit Chaudhary, Prof Vikas Jakhmola, Prof Manish Badoni, Prof Sharat Pandey, Prof Kartikey Gaur, Prof Rajesh Singh, Dr Amit Bhatt, Manoj Dhyani, Nitin Duklan and a large number of students were also present.
