UCOST, VoW hold Seminar on ‘History of Science in India’

Dehradun, 19 Nov: Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) and Valley of Words (VoW), today, jointly organised a one day Seminar on “History of Science in India”, today, at the Regional Science Centre (RSC), Vigyan Dham, Jhajra.
In the inaugural session, Dr Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, UCOST, delivered the welcome address. Dr Sanjeev Chopra, Historian, Policy Analyst & Festival Director of VoW, delivered the address on Valley of Words.
The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr CM Nautiyal, Consultant, INSA, New Delhi. GS Rautela, Advisor, Science City, Dehradun, proposed the vote of thanks to all the guests and participants present in the inaugural session.
In the first technical session, which was coordinated by Dr CM Nautiyal, the first lecture was delivered by Prof Mayank Vahia, Dean, MN University and Former Professor, TIFR, Mumbai, on “Astronomy in Ancient India”. Professor Deepak Kumar, former Prof Sc & History JNU, New Delhi, delivered a lecture on “History of Medicine”.
In the second technical session, Dinesh C Sharma, Jawaharlal Nehru Fellow, New Delhi, delivered his talk on “History of Information Technology” and Dr Alok Kumar Kanungo, Assistant Prof, IIT, Gandhinagar, gave a lecture on “History of S&T of Indian Glass”.
More than 250 students from DBIT, Beehive Institute, JBIT, Alpine Institute, ICFAI University, GRD Girls Degree College and Uttaranchal University Dehradun attended the Seminar.
