Goa, 24 Nov: Special Principal Secretary, Information, Abhinav Kumar met the crew of Uttarakhand’s short Hindi film Pataal-Tee, which was included in the International Film Festival at the Uttarakhand Film Pavilion in Goa, today, and congratulated the the entire crew.
Kumar said that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also sent his best wishes to the crew. He told them that Chief Minister Dhami had mentioned it was a matter of pride for the state that this effort of the youth of Rudraprayag district had been able to establish it identity at the national and international levels. Kumar stressed that the state government would give all possible support and encouragement to such efforts.
Pataal Tee will be screened at the film festival tomorrow.
Special provision will be made in the new film policy to encourage selected films for international festivals. Kumar said it is a priority of the government to provide all possible support to the young filmmakers of the state so that a healthy and prosperous film culture could develop in Uttarakhand.
On this occasion, the film’s producer-director Santosh Rawat of Rudraprayag district and his team revealed that this short film had been made with the help of their limited resources. The film was screened at the 39th International Short Film Festival in Busan, South Korea. Along with this, it has also been screened in Moscow. Rawat added that the film focussed on the Bhotia tribe of Uttarakhand, and was based on the emotional relationship between a grandfather and grandson. He revealed, “The film is of 26 minutes’ duration, which brings to the fore the struggle between man and nature in the mountains. I thank the Special Principal Secretary, Information, and I also request the state government to provide cooperation to the youth in such endeavours.”
Today, famous actors Pankaj Tripathi and Sanjay Suri also visited the Uttarakhand Pavilion. Dr Nitin Upadhyay, Nodal Officer of Uttarakhand Film Development Council, was also present on this occasion.
Renowned actor Pankaj Tripathi, who has established a unique identity in Bollywood on the basis of his art and simple personality, visited the Uttarakhand pavilion and inquired about the film policy and shooting locations. Tripathi was presented the Uttarakhand mountain cap and Angavastra on this occasion. Tripathi declared that Uttarakhand is a very beautiful place.
Actor Sanjay Suri also visited the Uttarakhand Pavilion today. Suri suggested providing space to short films and video blogging in the film policy. Sanjay Suri has shot for two films in Uttarakhand during the Covid period.
Various state governments are participating in the 53rd International Film Festival. There is participation from Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi and Jharkhand. In the current film festival, the Uttarakhand Pavilion has become the centre of attraction for all the filmmakers and directors.
