Dehradun, 23 Jul: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has extended his gratitude to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath following the transfer of Rs 1,600 crores by the UP Government towards Uttarakhand’s share of pension liabilities for the financial years 2021–22 and 2022–23. Dhami expressed satisfaction over the growing coordination and sustained dialogue between the two states, attributing the resolution of long-pending inter-state matters relating to assets and liabilities to these efforts.

As per the assessment carried out by the Accountant General, Uttar Pradesh, the state’s liability for pension expenditure stood at Rs 952.26 crores for the year 2021–22 and Rs 1,309 crores for the year 2022–23, taking the total to Rs 2261.26 crore. Against this assessed liability, the Uttar Pradesh government issued formal orders in July 2025 for the transfer of Rs 1,600 crores to Uttarakhand, which will be done through inter-state adjustment facilitated by the Reserve Bank of India.
