US Experts explain nuances of Smart Cities at Graphic Era

Dehradun, 8 Oct: Experts from Kent State University, USA, provided Graphic Era students with information on the development of sustainable infrastructure and smart cities through GIS and remote sensing.

A conference on Smart Cities and Sustainable Infrastructure was organized today at Graphic Era Deemed University. During the session, Kent State University’s College of Sciences and Humanities Dean, Prof. Mandy Munro-Stasiuk, said that technologies such as GIS, remote sensing and GeoAI play an important role in understanding environmental changes and developing sustainable infrastructure. Connecting students with these technologies can better prepare them for future challenges.

Kent State University’s College of Sciences and Humanities Assistant Director, International Programs, Dr. Andrew Peper said that GIS and remote sensing enable students to better understand the environment and infrastructure with the help of satellite data. The use of AI is making the analysis of this data faster and more effective.

Kent State University Liaison Office Director, Jyotsna Misra, and Kent State University Representative, Aastha Mehendiratta, discussed academic collaboration and international opportunities available to students.

The conference was jointly organized by the Office of International Affairs, Department of Civil Engineering, Graphic Era, and Kent State University. Dr. Keerat Kumar Gupta, Head, Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. Deepshikha Shukla, Suchit Arora, faculty members and students were present at the event.
