Dehradun, May 6: State Eligibility Test (USET) will be conducted soon in the state for the posts of Assistant Professors in various subjects in the state universities and colleges. This was informed by Higher Education Minister, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat in a statement issued today in this regard. He also informed that instructions have been given to the officials of Kumaun University to organise the USET examination. The exam dates will be announced soon. Those qualifying the examination will become eligible for appointment in various colleges and university as assistant professors.
Rawat asserted that the State Eligibility Test (USET) will be conducted soon in the state. He said that the Kumaun University will conduct this examination and for this instructions have been given to the university administration to announce the examination date soon. The Higher Education Minister said that necessary guidelines were sought from the University Grants Commission (UGC) for organising USET, and that the UGC has granted permission to the state to conduct this examination. The minister informed that the university administration has been asked to make a concrete action plan to conduct the examination and ensure complete transparency. The Higher Education Minister said that the USET exam will be held in Uttarakhand after a long gap and therefore thousands of students from all over the state are expected to participate in this exam. The university administration has been asked to complete all the formalities on time for the successful conduct of the exam.
Dr Rawat said thatthe USET consists of the same common subjects which are mainly conducted in the colleges including subjects like Hindi, English, Social Science, History, Geography, Sociology, Physical Education, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Commerce etc.
It may be recalled that State Eligibility Test (SET) is mandatory in order to become eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor. After passing this exam, one can directly apply for the post of Assistant Professor. Those qualifying this test become eligible for appointment as assistant professors even if they may not be having PhD and NET (National Eligibility Test).
