Dehradun, 3 Jun: A meeting of the Managing Committee of the Uttarakhand State Cooperative Union (PCU) was held today at the PCU auditorium in Dehradun under the chairmanship of Ram Krishna Mehrotra. The committee discussed the Union’s ongoing activities, future plans, new business opportunities, and various measures to strengthen the cooperative sector.
Special emphasis was placed on developing new business plans to enhance the Union’s revenue streams. Members stressed the need to adopt innovative initiatives in line with changing times to make the organisation financially stronger. Applications received from various cooperative societies seeking membership in the Union were also reviewed. It was unanimously decided to expand the Union’s membership base by bringing more cooperative institutions under its umbrella.
The committee also discussed preparing a comprehensive annual training calendar for the financial year 2026–27 for officers and employees of the Cooperative Department and forwarding it to the Registrar, Cooperative Societies. It was decided that training programmes would be organised throughout the year to strengthen the capacities of office bearers, employees, and officials of cooperative institutions at various levels.
Following the model of the national apex cooperative organisation, National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), the committee agreed to reduce the annual membership fee for member societies of the Uttarakhand State Cooperative Union from Rs 5,000 to Rs 2,000. The objective is to encourage greater participation and broaden the reach of the cooperative movement.
The most significant agenda item was the renewable energy initiative. The Uttarakhand State Cooperative Union has been designated as the State-Level Nodal Agency and Project Management Consultant (PMC) for renewable energy projects in the state. Under this initiative, the Union will oversee the implementation of solar rooftop projects across all apex cooperative institutions, district cooperative banks, and other cooperative societies in Uttarakhand. Members of the Board expressed their appreciation for this achievement.
The committee also approved the nomination of Pradeep Chaudhary to represent the Union in NCUI.
Addressing the meeting, Chairman Ram Krishna Mehrotra emphasised the need to develop new business models to strengthen the organisation. He stated that the Union would work in accordance with the roadmap laid out by the Chief Minister and the Cooperative Minister to realise the vision of cooperative-led prosperity and take the cooperative movement to new heights.
On the occasion, Umesh Tripathi and Pradeep Chaudhary were felicitated with floral bouquets by the Chairman, Managing Director, and Board members on their appointment as Directors of IFFCO.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman Shailendra Singh Bisht, Managing Director MP Tripathi, and board members including Pradeep Kumar, Shanti, Mamta Mehrotra, Gopal Singh Bora, Subhash Chandra Ramola, Supriya Chauhan, Rajendra Singh, Manoj Singh Samant, Sarthak Tripathi, Surendra Singh, Karanveer Singh, and Chandra Singh Thapa, among others.
