Mussoorie, 27 Dec: The Mussoorie Winter Line Carnival, to be held from 27 to 30 December, has begun in Mussoorie.
On Wednesday, a rally was flagged off by film producer and director Vishal Bhardwaj at the Survey Ground in Landour. Teams from Jaunpur Kala Manch, Lok Kala Manch, Himachal, Kumaon, Rajasthan, Hansa Dance Drama, Dehradun, Garhwal Mahasabha also participated and enthralled the audience with their performance.
The carnival parade started from the Survey Ground and went to Gandhi Chowk via Landhor Bazaar, Kulri, Mall Road, in which a large number of tourists saw the folk dances of various states including Uttarakhand and danced along. The Chholiya dance presented by the team from Kumaon was the centre of attraction during the procession. During this time, a spectacular presentation of Garhwali songs and dances was presented by the teams coming from the city local institutions and culture department.
While talking to journalists, Vishal Bhardwaj said that he was very happy to be a part of a big event like Winter Line Carnival. He said that while local artists are showcasing their art in the Mussoorie Winter Line Carnival, big bands like Indian Ocean would also be performing. He said that a food festival is being organised as part of the Carnival. Dishes made from Pahari products will be appreciated by the tourists coming from India and abroad. He said that Pahari dishes are very good for health along with taste. Whenever he comes to Mussoorie, he enjoys Pahari dishes. He has appealed to the people to enjoy the dishes made from the hill products of Uttarakhand and also promote them so that employment can be provided to the local people. He said that the Uttarakhand government has made a lot of changes in the film policy, which has made it much easier for the people coming here to make films. All the work is being done through a single window, due to which the film makers get a lot of benefits. A very good environment has been created by the government for the film industry due to which big and small films are being shot continuously in Uttarakhand, with local people also getting employment.
