Dehradun, 29 Sep: The World Integrity Center India, Dehradun, hosted an insightful session of WIC Talks today, featuring renowned actress and singer Ila Arun alongside celebrated actor and scriptwriter KK Raina. The talk show, titled “Celebrating Life Through Acting”, was moderated by Santanu Ganguly.
Ila Arun, who has made a mark in Indian cinema and Rajasthani folk music, shared her journey as a singer. “I always enjoyed Rajasthani music, and that’s how I got carried by it. You can easily become a singer if you appreciate music. I appreciated Rajasthani music, which has a lot of variety, and I don’t know when and how I started singing, but it happened,” she said. She also discussed her approach to acting, stating, “As an actor, you use observation as a tool,” emphasising how keen observation plays a critical role in crafting performances.
KK Raina, known for his extensive work in both cinema and theatre, elaborated on his dual journey as an actor and writer. “My association with Rajkumar Santoshi started when I was doing Govind Nihalani’s ‘Vijeta’. Rajkumar was the chief assistant director, and we became good friends. When he started making his first film ‘Ghayal’, I was part of his screenwriting team, mostly listening and occasionally giving suggestions. The same happened with ‘Ghatak’. Though I can’t take credit for writing these films, I worked as an associate screenplay writer in ‘China Gate’ and helped with the dialogues. I also co-wrote the dialogues for ‘Pukar’ and constructed the screenplay for ‘Dehak’, writing 90% of its dialogues.”
The Directors of WIC India, Ankit Aggarwal and Sachin Upadhyay said, “We are honoured to have hosted such distinguished personalities as Ila Arun and KK Raina at WIC Talks. Their journeys in cinema and theatre are a testament to the power of dedication, creativity, and passion. At WIC India, we aim to create a platform where artists can share their experiences and inspire the next generation. Today’s session was not just about celebrating their achievements, but also about understanding the profound impact that art and storytelling have on society.”
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, at which the audience posed questions about their artistic journeys in Bollywood. Members of WIC India actively participated, making the event both insightful and inspiring for all present.
