Dehradun, 8 Apr: The 16th Sardar Gurcharan Singh Memorial National Debate Competition was organised by Sardar Bhagwan Singh University, Balawala, with participation from top universities across the country, on 4 and 5 April. Over 150 participants showcased their talent in this prestigious event, including representatives from renowned institutions such as the University of Delhi, Bhopal University, Aligarh Muslim University, Lovely Professional University, and Govind Ballabh Pant University.
At this national platform, the students of D.A.V. (P.G.) College, Dehradun once again proved that their institution is not only known for academic excellence but also stands out in intellectual and linguistic skills.
Representing the college were four talented students—Mahak Bhandari, Shivani Thapliyal, Ananya Kumar and Priyanshu Baluni—who brought glory to the institution by winning the Champions’ Trophy.
In the Hindi segment, Mahak Bhandari secured the first position, while Shivani Thapliyal earned the third.
This achievement is being viewed as a golden chapter in the college’s history. For the first time, the college has achieved such an impactful victory in this prestigious national competition, enhancing its academic and cultural reputation.
To celebrate this remarkable accomplishment, a grand felicitation ceremony was organised by the college management on 7 April. The campus witnessed a festive atmosphere.
The event was presided over by Principal Prof SK Singh, with Vice Principal Prof SP Joshi, Dr Onima Sharma, Coordinator, IQAC, and all senior faculty members, staff, and students in attendance. During the ceremony, the victorious students were presented mementos, certificates, and special honours.
