Dehradun, 11 Dec: Addressing the media at the BJP State Headquarters here, today, State Media In charge of BJP, Manveer Singh Chauhan commended the Pushkar Singh Dhami government for its efforts to ensure the success of the Winter Char Dham Yatra, describing it as a milestone for the state’s economy and as a fulfilment of the aspirations of millions of devotees.
Chauhan also lauded the smooth organisation of the year-round pilgrimage, terming it a significant achievement of the BJP government under Dhami’s leadership. He also mentioned various initiatives by the state government taken to boost the Yatra, including a 25 percent discount for travellers at GMVN hotels during winters and also improvements in the facilities around winter abodes of Char Dham deities and the Panch Badri Kedar, as well as enhancements in infrastructure, parking facilities, food, and health services along the Yatra routes.
Chauhan claimed that, while the idea of conducting the yatra year-round has existed since before the formation of the state, it is under Dhami’s tenure that this decades-old dream of the state’s people has been realised. He credited this success to improvements along the roads and to the upgraded facilities for travellers, and better safety measures taken by the government. Chauhan also asserted that the historical changes in infrastructure under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been instrumental, with the all-weather road project playing a pivotal role in making the pilgrimage smooth, safe, and perennial.
Criticising the opposition, Chauhan remarked that those “who previously opposed the all-weather road project on environmental and other grounds” have been proven wrong. He argued that residents of Uttarakhand always believed in Modi’s vision, which has now ushered in a golden era for the state from strategic, social, and tourism perspectives. He added that the winter yatra will accomplish the wishes of devotees who were unable to visit ‘Devbhoomi’ during the traditional pilgrimage season. Chauhan claimed that the off-season influx of visitors is expected to significantly boost the state’s economy, benefit local traders and businesses along the Yatra routes, and create substantial round the year employment opportunities for the local youth.
Chauhan expressed optimism that with year-round Yatra now established and supported by enhanced facilities, the state would achieve new milestones in development and emerge as one of the best states in the coming decade.
